Stagwell's Sport Beach Will Have Some Competition At Cannes

It looks like Stagwell won’t be the only company staging a sports marketing event at the Cannes Festival of Creativity next month.

Front Office Sports, a multi-platform media and news organization covering the business of sports, is hosting an event in partnership with Publicis Sports and NBC Sports on June 19th.

The organizers say the event will “celebrate sports media on a global level for an afternoon of engaging keynotes, discussion, and networking.”

By contrast, Stagwell’s Sport Beach is a three-day long event (June 17-20) going into its second year at Cannes, this year at a bigger venue at La Plage du Festival on the Crossette. The agenda is largely set, with big names in the sports world like Megan Rapinoe, Sue Bird, Joe Barrow and Carmello Anthony in the lineup. Sponsors include Meta, Diageo, NBA’s Chicago Bulls, tech company LoopMe, wine brand Le Fete and others.

The Front Office/Publicis/NBC event roster was not available in time for this post. A spokesperson said it will be released in the coming weeks. Topics will include women’s sports equity, the evolution of sports partnerships, and the next decade of global sports.

Sports sponsorship measurement & data platform Relo Metrics and soccer media and entertainment company Footballco are two of the event’s sponsorship partners, with others to be announced.

“We’re seeing sports become an even larger topic this year at Cannes Lions as investments in sports media companies continue to grow and deals for advertising rights skyrocket,” said Adam White, CEO and Founder of Front Office Sports.

Added Jon Tuck, President of Publicis Sports: “There is no denying the power of sports and its growing importance in the marketing mix, so we're excited to partner with Front Office Sports and NBC Sports to deliver new insights and help our clients continue to grow in the sports partnerships space.”
