Meta To Pay High-Profile Creators To Post In Threads

To further boost the impact of Threads, Meta is offering influencers and high-profile creators $5,000 to post on its decentralized X competitor app, according to a screenshot shared by social media expert Matt Navarra.

“Make a profile and post threads or replies that get 10,000 or more views to earn money,” the screenshot reads. However, not just any users who have the following to accumulate this many post views are eligible to earn “up to $5,000.”

In a breakdown provided by Meta, the tech giant clarifies that the Threads bonus “is an invite-only bonus program,” adding that “if you are invited, you will receive a pop-up notification and an invite that appears in your Professional Dashboard on the Instagram app.”

Therefore, Meta will be selecting which creators it wants to partake in the program, which will likely be a list of well-known creators on Instagram who have the best chance of bringing their followers over to the newfound app.

Threads is not yet a year old. But according to a recent report by Apptopia, the social messaging app is making strides -- especially in the U.S., where the platform averaged an estimated 28 million daily active users in April, compared to X’s 22 million daily active users.

In addition, Meta says Threads has added 20 million users since February, increasing the total monthly active user count to 150 million globally.

The Threads bonus program originally launched at the beginning of April, but the payout amounts and the mandatory view count have both increased. Soon, users may see more content posted by their favorite creators and celebrities, while less-known creators may feel incentivized to build a bigger following on Threads.
