All About The Biscuits: Red Lobster Uses AI For Cheddar Bay Soundtrack

QSR and fast casual restaurants are no strangers to catchy jingles. But Red Lobster’s latest ode(s) to its fan favorite Cheddar Bay Biscuits has kicked it up a notch by using AI to produce THIRTY new tracks on two individual playlists, released all at once this week.

The new songs are all under the label “Cheddar Bay-I” and described by the brand as “a one-of-a-kind collection of fresh, never-before-heard songs fueled by guests' love of the iconic Cheddar Bay Biscuits and composed and performed by AI.”

Red Lobster developed all 30 tracks by “feeding inspiration from fans' declarations of love for Cheddar Bay Biscuits into an AI generator,” resulting in two playlists covering  multitude of musical genres from hip-hop to rock to jazz.

“Cheddar Bay Bouncin’ II” raps in 1990s style. “It’s not shrimp or lobster that’s got me in a trance/it’s those fluffy Cheddar Bays that make me want to dance.”  “Cheddar Baby” contains the lyrics “Let’s name our first born after Cheddar Bay Biscuits, the ones that melt our hearts and make us want to live this.”  The catchy and surprisingly listenable songs also include a barbershop quartet number, "Cheddar Bay Serenade," a techno-influenced "Mmmmmmmm," the country tune "Butter Ball” and “My Ride or Dine,” all about a cat named, of course, Cheddar Bay Biscuit.

"Our Cheddar Bay Biscuits have been topping the charts in the hearts and minds of our guests for years, so we figured who better to tap for the inspiration behind each track than the people who share their passion for Cheddar Bay Biscuits every day," said Sara Bittorf, chief experience officer at Red Lobster in a release. "With a little help from AI, Cheddar Bay-I brings our guests' love of Cheddar Bay Biscuits to life in a way that's part cheesy, and a whole lot of fun."

The playlists were released in anticipation of National Biscuit Day on May 29. The Cheddar Bay-I  playlists can be heard on Red Lobster’s YouTube channel here. A bonus track will be released in May 14, according to the release.

In addition to the new soundtracks, Red Lobster has added a Shrimp Your Way option to its menu. With three flavors, like new Street Corn Shrimp (LTO), Garlic Shrimp Scampi and Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp the new offering is $20. The chain has also  introduced a Main Deck Margarita and an Under the Purple Sea cocktail.
