YouTube Revamps Creator Channel Pages For TV App

YouTube is rolling out a new design for creators’ channel pages on the video-sharing platform's app for TV.

The update marks an effort by the company to modernize its overall look on bigger screens while increasing in-app subscriptions.

YouTube first began toying with creator channel updates on its TV app back in October when it announced a series of design improvements, including larger thumbnail previews, integrated voice search, updated menu navigation, a vertical video info menu and more.

According to a company spokesperson on YouTubes latest update video, users will begin to see a “new immersive layout” on creators' channel pages that aims to prioritize the most relevant videos for each viewer, with a larger, more prominent Subscribe button and an option to play a mix of video content from the highlighted channel.

The update is rolling out to all creators over the next few weeks on YouTube's app for TVs, allowing creators to upload 16x9 art for their channel banner.

It is not surprising that YouTube is trying to facilitate creators' success on bigger screens, as the company's TV app continues to drive views for creators on the platform.

New internal data indicates that in the last three years, the number of top creators who receive the majority of views on TVs increased by over 400%.

In addition, Nielsen recently reported that YouTube was the leader in streaming watch time for the past 11 months.

Viewers across the globe are watching over 1 billion hours on average of YouTube content on their TVs per day, suggesting a new challenger in the ongoing streaming wars.
