Passion: The Driving Force of Fair Harbor's Eco-Friendly Fashion Entrepreneur

Behind the Scenes with Caroline Danehy

Fair Harbor's Caroline Danehy talks sustainability, pitching Jessica Alba and how ignorance really can be bliss.

I've had the opportunity to connect with and learn from executives of major brands at MediaPost's Insider Summits. In the process I've discovered some truly impressive women, and not only for the work they do but their stories behind the scenes. With Brand Insider: BTS, I get to pull back the curtain on some of the most influential women marketers as they talk about their path to success: the twists and turns, obstacles, inspirations and the valuable lessons learned along the way.

“When you can combine a passion with a frustration, that's really where the magic happens.” For Caroline Danehy, that passion is the environment, the frustration is what plastics are doing to it and the magic? Fair Harbor, a clothing line of beachwear made by upcycled plastic bottles. The co-founder & chief creative officer launched the company with her brother Jake when she was still in high school, he in college, and it’s been “a hell of a journey ever since.” In this episode of Brand Insider: BTS, Caroline talks with me about pushing past all the naysayers, how youthful naivety can be an asset and her secret desire to boogie down in platforms and sequins. You can watch the video of the entire conversation here.
